The Tobacco Leaf Plate is a vibrant expression of 18th-century artistry, meticulously recreated for the modern table. Inspired by a historic Chinese export pattern, this design was originally crafted for the Portuguese and Brazilian markets and remains one of the most prized porcelain patterns of its time.
A small phoenix bird perches gracefully among the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (tobacco) plant, brought to life with an extraordinary palette of 27 colors and hand-applied 22k gold accents. Each plate undergoes five firings to achieve its rich depth and luminous detail, making it a true collector’s piece.
Material: Porcelain
Care: Dishwasher safe on delicate cycle; hand-washing recommended for longevity
This plate is part of an authorized reproduction for the Metropolitan Museum of Art, reflecting Mottahedeh’s dedication to preserving timeless design. Whether used for formal dining or displayed as a decorative piece, the Tobacco Leaf Dinner Plate adds a touch of historical elegance to any setting.
